Troubleshooting WiFi-Bluetooth

Experiencing dysfunction with WiFi, Bluetooth, or other integral features following system boot is not uncommon and is typically attributed to a slew of potential causes. This could range from incorrect driver implementations to hardware incongruities, from misconfigured BIOS to errors within the configuration itself. The resolution paths involve ensuring the installation of precise KEXTs, reviewing the compatibility of your hardware suite, fine-tuning the BIOS settings, or rectifying any mistakes made during the installation process. It’s essential to be aware of the potential complexities in achieving seamless operation, particularly in scenarios where your system components differ from those outlined in your reference guide or support folder.

Preliminary Steps

Initially, you should identify the wireless cards that are compatible with Hackintosh systems.

  1. Broadcom Visit the following link for the unsupported wireless cards: https://dortania.github.io/Wireless-Buyers-Guide/unsupported.html
  2. Intel For Intel compatibility, check out: https://openintelwireless.github.io/itlwm/Compat.html

Should your wireless card not appear on these lists, unfortunately, it will not support WiFi functionality within the Hackintosh environment.

Differences in Hardware Configurations

While our EFI boot configurations aim to support a spectrum of supported wireless cards, complete compatibility with every card is not feasible. For instance, if the EFI boot contains drivers for the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260 and your hardware equips a RealTek or Broadcom wireless card, drivers for your specific card won’t be included within the EFI. It will be necessary for you to manually modify or add the appropriate drivers.

OS Version Compatibility

While EFI configurations may support various OS versions, we recommend using the OS version specified in the EFI documentation to mitigate WiFi and Bluetooth errors.

  1. For Intel wireless cards on Catalina 10.15 and earlier, you must install HeliPort for connectivity; otherwise, you won’t be able to connect to the internet.
  2. For Broadcom Wireless on Sonoma, detailed guidance can be found here: Wifi Broadcom on macOS Sonoma Hackintosh with OCLP.
